Martha Da'ro is a multi-disciplinary Belgian-Angolan artist - whose creative career spans from music, film and theater.
In 2020 she released her genre-bending EP Cheap Wine & Paris, which she herself refers to as Diaspop.
Considering all her creative pursuits, Da’ro’s debut solo LP, PHILOPHOBIA (meaning; fear of being loved), is an intensely cinematic experience in all aspects. Its atmosphere is an evocative sonic art installation and a straightforward musical album. With a soft yet commanding voice, Martha Da'ro aimed to compose an album where each track functions as a soundtrack and story.
This storytelling also translates in her live performances. An avant-garde haunting mix between moods and styles, from bastardized R&B to hypermodern electrosoul and a contemporary version of the blues. Billie Holiday, but adapted by Björk.
As of today she continues her Philophobia tour, working on new music and writing for an immersive theater piece.
