Anaïs Chabeur (Paris, 1992) lives and works in Ghent. She is currently attending a residency programme at Ghent’s Higher Institute for Fine Arts, HISK.
Using a diverse range of practices (videos, objects, writing, photographs), Anaïs Chabeur interrogates memory, attempting to give a presence to the void, showing the elusive: these interstitial spaces where fluids, energies are exchanged and matter is in motion. For Chabeur memory is organic, permeable, a contraction of space and time in which we travel. Her pieces contain their share of narration. They are often very sensual, and raise questions about our relationship with time, death, and the rituals that punctuate our existence.
